Characteristics:

PYTHON FLAMESHIELD 8 is an 8-strand High Performance Wire Rope with high temperature resistant outer wires. These wires are different from normal wires with respect to both material and production process. the lubricant applied to Flameshield is not prone to dripping and coking. In combination with a flexible core it provides a long service life under high temperature working conditions.

PYTHON FLAMESHIELD 8 is neither rotations-resistant nor non-rotating.

Fields of application:

PYTHON FLAMESHIELD 8 is a hoist rope suited for cranes operating in high temperature environments. In steel mills, parts of the rope are exposed to the furnace's or converter's flames during batching.

Here, the temperatures of 800°C and more can easily be achieved. Despite the rope cooling down to room temperature after this process heat remains within the drum's core. Examinations of wires from this area show a gradual deterioration of mechanical wire properties. In standard wire ropes, frequent temperature fluctuations cause embrittlement of the wires, resulting in a reduced service life.

For this reason, FLAMESHIELD 8 uses high temperature resistans outer wires.
